The incident led to the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a believed to be irritant spray resulted in harm at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.

These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, authorities reported.

A three-year-old girl was among those injured in the event. Several persons went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.

This event – which authorities stated was isolated and not considered a terror-related act – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
